Installation
Set up the zen Style with the shadcn CLI, then add components.
kosori installs through the stock shadcn CLI. There is no kosori CLI and no kosori package: components arrive as source you own, at your own aliases.
Requirements
- A React project the CLI recognises. This page is written against a Next.js app; the CLI detects the framework itself.
- Tailwind CSS v4.
initvalidates this and stops if it finds anything older.
Set up the Style
npx shadcn@latest init --base base --preset https://kosori.codingcodax.dev/init/zen/neutralName the Base explicitly with --base base. A preset URL carries no Base, and
without the flag the CLI asks which component library to use.
That one command is the whole setup:
- writes
zenintocomponents.jsonas the Style; - maps the
@kosoriNamespace to the Registry, so every later install resolves@kosori/<name>against this Style; - copies the Style's Token block into your CSS entry, once for light and once for dark;
- adds the dependencies the Style needs —
@base-ui/react,class-variance-authority,cnand@tabler/icons-react— plusshadcnandtw-animate-cssas dev dependencies.
The last segment of the preset URL is the Base color. Read Theming to pick a different one.
Add a component
npx shadcn@latest add @kosori/buttonButton's source lands at the ui alias in your components.json — by default
@/components/ui/button.tsx — with its imports rewritten to your aliases. It is
your file now: edit it as you like.
Because init already stored the Namespace, this command needs no arguments
from you. Setup still needs network access to shadcn's host: the CLI fetches its
style list and Base color data from there, and our preset only removes the
dependency on the values those return. Its dependencies were installed by
init; add installs anything a later component introduces.
